Queen Rania's Biography

َQueen Rania in the traditional Jordanian dress

Queen Rania of Jordan is best known for her advocacy work in public health, education and as an outspoken opponent of the practice of "honor killings."

Synopsis:

Born in Kuwait and forced to flee during the first Gulf War in 1991, Queen Rania's early life was much like thousands of other Palestinians. In 1993 she met Prince Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of Jordan at a party and the two were married six months later. Rania is a strong progressive female voice in the Arab world and a powerful advocate for education, health and women's rights.

Advocate for Many Causes:

Rania's youth, royal status and glamorous beauty instantly made her something of an international icon. She was photographed at fashion shows and high-society social events, usually mingling with a beautiful coterie of the global elite. Through it all, however, Queen Rania remained remarkably grounded, using her position to advocate on behalf of a variety of causes she believed to be important. A progressive female voice in the Arab world, Queen Rania became a powerful advocate for reform in education and public health, the development of a sustainable tourism industry in Jordan, youth empowerment, and cross-cultural dialogue between the West and the Arab world. Perhaps most notably, she worked as an outspoken opponent of the traditional practice of "honor killings," the murder of women by members of their own family for perceived violations of Islamic moral code.

Your opinions are appreciated!

My dear readers, have you ever been to Jordan?
Jordan is one of the best destinations to visit during a vacation. It is also considered a great tourist attraction due to the fact that it has great natural sites and views for nature-lovers, and wonderful places to visit for those who love the city life.

If you have been to Jordan before, I would really appreciate your help and participation in this survey that aims to evaluate the quality of tourism in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In addition, this survey will greatly help me in the process of deciding what my next posts will be about. The survey consists of seven short questions, and it is not going to take more than ten minutes of your time.

Jabal Amman

Amman is the capital of Jordan, or as I would like to call it the “Heart of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan”. There are so many places to visit in Amman, I am wondering where I should start from. However, I believe that you've never actually seen Amman until you visit Al- Rainbow Street in Jabal Amman; it is not a regular street, there are many attractions there from small shops and restaurants to fancy cafes and bars.

Jara Market:
In Summer, Jara Market “Souk Jara” in Al-Rainbow Street opens every Friday. I love “Souk Jara” because everything there is locally-made; it consists of small booths and kiosks that sell different types of products including books, natural soaps, souvenirs, accessories, paintings, and Jordanian food. It is so simple, yet so charming!

Special Nights!
I highly recommend visiting Vu’s Cafe in Al-Rainbow Street when you are in Jabal Amman. It is a cafe on the roof in Jabal Amman with the best Hookah “Shisha”, and sometimes, a singer performs for your joy and entertainment! The mixture of an amazing view on a high rooftop with great songs and the best Hookah is truly incredible! A video is attached to show you Vu’s Cafe view and the amazing singer!

Al-Mujib Valley

The place to be!

Al-Mujib Valley is located in the Dead Sea area. What I really like about Jordan is how the government protects this particular art piece as they turned it into a natural reserve.
GUESS what! It is the perfect place for a perfect hiking trip!
I went there this summer with three of my friends, we viewed “WalkingJordan” which is a website that provides information about these kinds of trips, we then planned a private hike for the four of us. We contacted a guide called Saadi Al Jounaidi to help us, he came with another guide to assist us; we paid 45 JD per person. The two guides provided us with transportation and tools, they also helped us climbing. Upon arrival, my friends and I were amazed by the beauty of the river. Walking through the river and climbing small hills at Al- Mujib Valley was an incredible experience that I will never forget.
Those pictures are from my last trip there, you will be amazed by the beauty. I highly recommend visiting it because you will definitely enjoy it.
When the beauty of nature meets the spirit of adventure!
